General notes to start daily individual updates

Tuesday

9/30/2025

Tuesday Stocks report bearish corn and wheat, neutral to beans but we are in harvest, and we need positive news, not neutral to bearish.  Corn off 6 cents, 415 1/2 while beans barely hold the buck, 1001 3/4, down 8 3/4.  Wheat hit for 11 1/2 to 508.  New contract lows in rice, 1116 1/2, minus 19 1/2.  The world has a little too much grain right now and no one seems to have the incentive to store it.  Dow looked a little lower with no takers in a quiet churn day, rallying back to 46,689 by the close, plus 77 points while the bonds slipped 8 tics, 116.19.

Pretty quiet Monday in front of Tuesday stocks numbers and month end with corn leaking 1/2 cent, 421 1/2 and wheat 1/4 softer, 519 1/2.  Bean give up 3 1/4 to 1010 1/2 and rice gets a 11 1/2 cent bounce back from Friday selling, 1136.  Dow had a quiet churn day, 46,612, plus 56 points and bonds recovered 26 points, 116.27, taking away some bear work pretty quickly.

Friday

Softer grains Friday going into what should be a decent harvest weekend.  Corn off 3 3/4 to 422 and wheat couldn't hold the bounce, 519 3/4, down 7 1/4.  Rice testing lows we haven't seen since 2020, 1124 1/2, minus 12 1/2.  Beans up 1 1/2 to 1013 3/4.  Dow pumped up 288 points in continued churn trade, 46,556 and about midpoint for the weeks range while bonds stall, 116.01, off 6 tics.

OK exports but rice to start Thursday trade and wheat leads us 7 1/2 cents higher, 527 close.  Let's hope wheat is basing.  Corn up 1 1/2 to 425 3/4 and beans gain 3 1/4 to 1012 1/4.  Rice bled off 6 cents, 1137 on a decent gain in OI for the volume traded.  Place your bets.  Dow off 173 points, 46,268 and we have had nearly a 1000-point churn from peak to trough this week.  Computers are stretching their wings for something.  Bonds off 3 tics, 116.07.

Humpday opened with a little pip but faded thru the day everywhere.  After some promising early trade, wheat closed a penny lower, 519 1/2.  Corn slipped 2 cents, 424 1/2 and beans gave up 3 to 1009.  Quiet rice trade off a nickel and a small bump in OI there. Dow off 196 points, 46,441 and bonds off 9 tics, 116.10.

Tuesday

Tuesday brought a bit of a Monday/Tuesday trade with Wheat popping back 9 3/4 higher, 520 1/2 and corn recovering 4 1/2 to 426 1/4.  Rice in another dull trade, 1148, plus 1 1/2 and beans struggle to close a penny better, 1012.  Dow churn ends off 87 points after looking at a new high, 46,637 close and bonds pick up 11 tics, 116.19.

Weekend harvest and Argy tax relief including new Argy sales to China pressure the markets Monday.  Beans off 14 1/2 to 1011 and soft products as well.  Wheat hit excessively to me, 510 3/4, minus 11 3/4.  Corn off 2 1/4 to 421 3/4.  Rice in another dull day, 1146 1/2, down 3 1/2.  Hoping for Monday/Tuesday trade but nervous.  Dow up 73 points after the bears couldn't get any momentum to the downside, 46,724.  Bonds quiet, 116.08, off 3 tics.

Friday

9/19/2025

Friday grain trade pressured by weekend harvest expectations with beans feeling it the most, 1025 1/2, minus 12 on the day and 20 off the highs.  Wheat slipped 1 3/4 to 522 1/2 and rice off just a couple cents, 1050.  Corn plus 1/4 cent, 424, but that was a nickel off the high in a low range day.  Corn is competitive globally as we see in exports, but we will soon be competing against Brazil second crop corn and then it might be a different story.  Tough call there.  Dow up 135 points to close the week at 46,651 and bonds slip 16 tics, 116.11.

Thursday

9/18/2025

Ok exports Thursday morning other than soft rice but corn and bean harvest dialing up will bring harvest pressure.  The curve ball is how far off production is vs. what the USDA is predicting.  Corn off 3 cents, 423 3/4 while wheat slips 4 to 524 1/4.  Beans down 6 1/4 to 1037 1/2.  Rice just languishing, 1152, minus 7.  Dow up 151 points, 46,516 and bonds drop 20 tics, 116.27.

Wednesday

9/17/2025

Humpday grain trade a bit softer in Yo-Yo trade with beans giving back 6 cents, 1043 3/4, wheat off 5 3/4 to 528 1/4 and corn down 2 3/4 to 426 3/4.  Rice off 15 to 1159 in thin give back trade after Tuesday bounce.  Powell cut rates 1/4 as expected and after the initial rally, bonds lost 16 tics, 117.15 even with the Dow holding 46,365, plus 246 points.
